Address by WCC general secretary Samuel Kobia
at the interfaith celebration, St Peter's Cathedral
(Sunday, 13 November 2005)

This is an important moment as we gather at this cathedral from different religious traditions: Bahais, Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Jews, Muslims. As people of different faiths, we come to this place of worship to express in various ways, and in faithfulness to our traditions, our longings for peace and reconciliation, for justice and human dignity.

The World Council of Churches is fully committed to work together with people of different religions towards making the world we share a better place for all. As people of different faiths, we are inheritors of the wisdom and values handed down to us by saints and sages through the ages, and it is in this spirit that, today, we open ourselves to each other and to God, so that in the midst of our diversity, we might find a way to walk together for the transformation of our world.
