a. "Mary & Joseph" are prevented by a military checkpoint from reaching their destination, Bethlehem.

b. The best the soldiers could offer "Mary and Joseph" was a little walk around the metal fence by the checkpoint, while some in the crowd sang "O little town of Bethlehem".
